You can transfer your favorite Pokemon from Red and Blue on Game Boy into your N64 thanks to the Transfer Pak (sold separately). "Rent" Pokemon in-game if you don't have any Game Boy Pokemon data. Get your Pokemon to participate in the arena against human or CPU opponents, or have them fool around with minigames. Unlike the Pokemon games for the Game Boy where you must capture wild Pokemon to have an advantage in battles, you can use rental Pokemon to battle with. However, the Pokemon usually do not have great movesets or stats, so it's up to you to battle effectively with what you've got. Enter your Pokemon in arena tournaments.
