Nuts is a fixed-screen shooter. You play as a squirrel protecting your stash of nuts from a pack of weasels, by throwing rocks up at them as they run left to right and right to left above you. The weasels will throw rocks back at the squirrel and if the squirrel is hit, the player will lose a life. If the weasels are able to make ten full loops of going back and forth the player will also lose a life, so the player must try to defeat the weasels as fast as possible.
